The No Interest Loan Scheme offers a viable alternative for people who face barriers in gaining access to small amounts of credit on fair and reasonable terms, for the purchase of basic and essential household white goods, household furniture, electrical goods, medical equipment and other items.
The scheme is available to all low income earners who have lived at their current shire address for the last six months and are wanting to, but cannot afford the initial outlay to purchase household goods.
The amount of the loan available will be in the range of $600 to $800, repayable fortnightly via Centrelink payments over a 6, 9 or 12 month period. Once the initial contact is made and application forms filled out, then each loan request is looked at individually and decided on by a committee.
Here are our application and assessment forms. Please fill in and bring in when you come.

Loans are not available for bond or rent in advance, household bills and general living expenses, such as food and clothing. Loans are for new goods only, purchased from a reputable trader or through the Good Shepherd Buying Service. Only one item can be purchased at any one time.
We believe by offering NILS within the Cardinia Shire we will help low income earners avoid more problematic credit options, such as payday lenders, pawnbrokers, finance companies, or in some cases credit cards.
Please direct all enquiries for the NILS scheme to 4C’s on (03) 5941 2268.
